Representatives from Keep Cuffley Rural, Northaw & Cuffley Residents Association and local residents attended the meeting on Thursday evening of 2nd August 2007.
A spokesperson representing residents and both organisations put what we believe were strong objections to the Planning Control Committee. Some of the Committee then stated that ‘you have done a pretty good job’, that Tesco had submitted a ‘slipshod and sub-standard application’, ‘that there is strong and widespread objection within Cuffley’ and that 'this store will make a profound difference to Cuffley’.
DESPITE THIS, TESCO’S PLANNING APPLICATIONS WERE ALL APPROVED!
It would appear that under the current planning laws (as amended by this Government) the Borough Council had virtually no legal planning reason to decline the applications.
Whilst we have always believed that there are serious traffic/safety issues, Hertfordshire Highways raised no major concerns!!!
It appears that nowadays DEMOCRACY and PUBLIC OPINION count for nothing!
WHAT IS NOW OF MOST IMPORTANCE IS THAT WE ALL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT OUR CURRENT LOCAL SHOPS! USE THEM OR LOOSE THEM – IT’S YOUR CHOICE DO YOU REALLY WANT TO SEE LOTS OF EMPTY BOARDED-UP SHOPS IN YOUR VILLAGE? YOU SHOULD ALL KNOW BY NOW EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS! |
